Just the thought of our everyday schedules, so many different lives...living in the same world! It's interesting, the fact we ALL have a different outlook on life and our experiences give us the outlook in which we perceive. Good, bad or ugly...it's our story! I'm a Mom, and the day to day tasks seem so similar as the day before! Heck, sometimes it's groundhog day over and over! Didn't I just fold that yesterday? Dishes again??!? Sweeping is an unending task!! All in all, we can easily forget the outside world and what others are living...having Yi Ru stay with us has opened my eyes to her world as a student! Walking and riding the bus from place to place. Nothing in the world holding her back from pursuing her dream! It's perspective and it's two different lives, in the same world.
I'm sitting with Yi Ru discussing the differences of American Agriculture vs. Taiwan. She says, "our fruits and vegetables are so much smaller than America's. Your produce is so much larger and stays fresh longer, so high tech!" As my GMO radar goes off, I'm thinking, "WOW...yes, i'll trade you." High Tech or (poisoned for mass production) but that is another rant for another day and a whole other topic!! I really enjoy watching her learn about America, but I am all the more interested in her world and life outside the U.S.
